Seek His Habitation and go there

After yesterday's rather crestfallen post, I've, yes made it past Wednesday into Thursday. Actually, right now is Friday morning when I clearly ought to be in bed. But, after an exhaustively full day, I feel I ought to have something good to report because good, uplifting, and encouraging things do happen.

What I blog tends to vary on a whimsy - poetry inspired by snapshot moments to interesting things I notice and now blog about instead in a decisive move to cease to bombard certain people via email with excited and enthusiastic reports on what (in normal language) might be otherwise known as "an extraordinary take on the mundane" which it is fair to say, is occasionally entertaining to more people than myself. (what a load of E's there!) I try to keep the emotional side out, so yesterday's post is an anomaly but perhaps it gives y'all something to think about.

I have enjoyed a few things spiritually speaking within this past week.

Previously, I've written about various stages in my career planning. I'm now considering a field that I know little about but find myself more and more intrigued by the legend I'm creating and envisioning in my head about.... science journalism. Anyway, now that I'm working on getting back up on my feet, I really appreciated some spiritual inspiration from Deuteronomy.

Deuteronomy 12:5-7

But to the place which Jehovah your God will choose out of all your tribes to put His name, to His habitation, shall you seek, and there shall you go. ... and there you shall eat before Jehovah your God, and you and your households shall rejoice in all your undertakings, in which Jehovah your God has blessed you.

These selections from the verses MOVED me and resounded in my being so deeply because I feel so transplanted. I wonder every day if instead of in Boston, I ought to be dreaming of some other place, of having some other ambition, of desire to be in some particular other place. I don't. It's not because I don't want to be mobile, I just don't have the feeling to be or not be here and until I have a clear leading, I guess I'm not going anywhere.

The verse comforted me because I don't need to be seeking any of those things I listed above. I need to seek God's habitation and go there. It's so simple. What do I need to find this place? A compass? A real one? A spiritual one? What's that? I need to "discern the place of God's choice." One prayer to offer up might just go something like this: Lord, I don't know where You want me to be. I'd like to go where You go. Be where You are and have a desire one with Your kingdom on earth.

God's dwelling place is...
....in our spirit. This means that God's place of choice is in our spirit and the place of God is:

1. a place of enjoyment

"If in a particular place we do not sense the enjoyment of the Lord, we should question whether or not it is the place God has chosen..."

So I have.

2. a place of rejoicing

"To rejoice is not simply to be happy....In order to rejoice we must utter something or make a joyful noise. "

I am comforted that we simply need to, in layman's terms, "go to God's house." This doesn't mean a church building. God may sanctify a building for its use for believers to gather together to rejoice and be built together and strengthen each other in spirit. The ground of the church is in the oneness and unity of all our human spirits mingled with the divine spirit, expressed as the glory of God who is in all who call upon the name of the Lord out of a pure heart and who will also pursue together, to run the race which is before us.

God made a choice. He chose a place for each of us, and God has BLESSED us so that we may rejoice in all of our undertakings. All of our bill-paying, work-doing, school-searching, appetite-feeding, soul-saving, house-cleaning, people-cheering, and spirit-infusing we do.

Do you see that? We've been blessed. We are being blessed. We just need to be in our spirit. I need to be in my spirit, and especially on Wednesday nights! :) God is spirit and He is in our midst.

Another bit I enjoyed this morning on my way to work regarding sharing our enjoyment of Christ with each other I will just quote briefly below.

1 Cor. 14:26
What then, brothers? Whenever you come together each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.

" We must till our spiritual ground; we must sow the spiritual seed; we must water the spiritual plants - all the time. We cannot rely upon others to do it for us' we must do it ourselves or it will never be done.

We are indeed rich in resource but poor in produce.

Every morning you need to pray: " Lord I consecrate myself once more to You, not to work for You but to enjoy You."

...you are well prepared to offer your prayers and praises to the Lord from your reserve for Him. This is the best of your surplus and with the saints you joyfully render it to the Lord for His enjoyment and satisfaction.

We are meeting together to have an exhibition of Christ, not just the Christ God gave us, but the Christ we have produced, the Christ upon whom we have labored and whom we have experienced. "

It's a farmer's market. Colorful. Appealing. Ripe produce from fresh enjoyment of the word of God which is good for food.
